HUSV 353: Domestic Violence

Course Description

The course will familiarize students with the problem of domestic violence. Special emphasis will be given to spouse abuse, the cycle of violence, alternatives available to the victim, legal options, and counseling approaches used.  Aspects of prevention, community intervention will be explored, along with the historical perspective and contributory factors such as sex-role stereotypes, social violence, and cultural norms.
