HIST 6013: History Education in Schools and Communities

Course Description

This course explores the history of social studies and history curriculum, and how community histories intersect with and challenge history taught in schools. Readings explore key controversies in 20th century politics of history education and how various communities have sought to develop, explore, challenge, and redesign school and public understanding of the past and issues in teaching it in schools, cultural organizations, and community spaces.
