MATH 4250: Introduction to Statistical Methods in Learning and Modeling

Course Description

This course will introduce basic statistical principles and methods for modeling, inference, prediction and classification. The topics will be chosen from linear regression, basis expansion methods, kernel smoothing methods, model regularization, model selection and assessment, and other nonparametric methods. Credit cannot be earned for bothMATH 4250andMATH 5250.
