MATH 5250: Statistical Methods in Learning and Modeling
Course Description
This course will introduce basic statistical principles and methods for modeling, inference, prediction and classification. The topics will be chosen from linear regression, basis expansion methods, kernel smoothing methods, model regularization, other nonparametric methods, and model selection and assessment. Topics are identical toMATH 4250but material is covered at a greater depth and additional projects/assignments are required. Credit cannot be earned for bothMATH 4250andMATH 5250.
