SOC 4307: Community-Based Research in Sociology

Course Description

This course is an advanced examination of qualitative/ethnographic modes of inquiry and builds upon research and analytical skills learned in previous courses. Some quantitative methods may supplement the research when appropriate. Students will experience the process of discovery, representation, presentation, and justification based on fieldwork and/or archival research. The focus is on applying sociological knowledge to practical issues faced by communities and institutions in the St. Louis area.
